Arduino SID Failure

Yesterday, I blew up a SID chip. Not just any old chip, but a 1982-vintage, irreplaceable, interesting sound generator chip. And I feel like crap for so doing. I knew it was CMOS and prone to failure by latch-up, but I failed to be careful enough and just as I got the camera ready, it made a loud crack and let out the magic smoke.

Oh, I'm sorry. Best of luck once you get back to it. The immediate feed-back of getting wicked sound from this project will probably make it really fun, once you do get back to it.

I feel your pain i really do. I have 2 c64's one for keeps and another for SID extraction. Havent found a project i feel able to attempt yet. Hope you can pluck up the courage to try your spare SID
