So, I'm working on a project about singing in early hip-hop. I'm not sure how it will work out, BUT I just found this quote from Robert Christgau on Rahiem from the Furious Five:

he can actually sing, thus distinguishing himself from Kurtis Blow, Joseph Bowie, and the entire population of the United Kingdom.

That's from 1982. He must be talking about SOMETHING specific, but because I got it from his web site I have no context (it doesn't even say which issue of the Village Voice it was originally in).

I am giving a talk at 1pm on campus tomorrow about early hip-hop and the Tom Tom Club!

I still think someone could have a lot of fun with Robert Christgau reviewing baby pictures posted by insanely proud parents.

Not my baby though.
