I've gotta get on top of my Dragon Con stuff.
Lookin like I'ma be doin Fry, Adam (MythBusters), and Dangle again.
So lessee. Fry involves red jacket, white t-shirt, blue jeans, black and gray sneakers, and that crazy ass red hair.
Adam will take that black Reject Your Reality shirt, black leather jacket, brown fedora, aviator-ish glasses, dark blue jeans, and black boots (not sure about those last two. gotta check mah DVDs.)
And, of course, practically everything's taken care of with Dangle. This year, though, I think I'm going to get some tactical-esque boots and do something with my hair (maybe get some actual highlights. Maybe) now that it's short so I don't have to wear the helmet. I've got to get some more shades, too, since I just recently broke the original Dangle shades :((((((
The details are where it will get interesting, though, because nearly everything I've said so far won't be that tough to procure.
With Fry, I was thinking of making Seymour, his fossilized dog from that tear-jerker of an episode, Jurassic Bark. Papier mache is an option, and (if I can ever figure what it is/if it exists) that stuff that's like clay, but doesn't take as much time/effort/equipment to harden up.
The other option, and I believe this was originally Lauren's idea, was to make a brain slug and carry it around.
I really like both of these ideas, so I'm not quite sure which way to go. What do you people think?
One issue with all of these is facial hair. Fry, of course, is clean shaven. But, Adam has the full red goatee, and Dangle's got his mustache. Now, in theory, I suppose I could wear the costumes in Adam, Dangle, Fry order and just shave a little every night, but I don't know. If I'm gonna be in a Futurama GROUP, that feels like a Saturday thing, right in the midst of the con, the apex of the excitement.
So, considering all that, I'm thinking of getting some facial hair pieces for Adam and Dangle and just staying clean shaven. This would make it easier for me to make sure I've got red facial hair for Adam, too.
And then there's Fry's hair. Wowie wow wow, I'm at a complete and total loss on this one. If you've got any ideas on this, just let fly, because I don't even know where to start.
Being the perfectionist that I am, I do have one concern with doing Adam that can't really be changed. Adam is slightly taller than Jamie, maybe an inch or so. I, on the other hand, am shorter than my Jamie. Jordan's got a nice little bit on me in height, so that irks me, but nothing can be done. Besides, I think the fact that people will see an Adam and Jamie at D*C at all will override any stickler's concerns.
I'm also thinking of making a little prop for Adam. Maybe a little detonator thing. Little box with a big red button and an antenna. If we had a Buster to carry around it would be freaking sweet, but I wonder if that wouldn't get annoying, carrying around a dummy, or whatever dummy size thing we would use.
So, there's my con update. I'm sure there will be more later, as I scramble to reconcile my hopes with reality in the waning weeks.
