summary; it takes one bite, to kill. it takes blood, to be reborn. and it takes one beast, to bring the end of us all. or the one where vampires hunt vampires and a pair of siblings are planning an apocalypse of sorts.

He wakes up with a sense of calm acceptance. His eyes open and he stares at the ceiling, taking deep, even breaths. He's different. He realizes it almost immediately. He feels... frozen but not as if he feels the cold. No, he feels with absolute certainty that he's forever frozen in time. His body, to remain as it is.

His skin feels cold to the touch. His mouth feels dry. A faint sense of hunger lingers behind every thought, a faint need

He fears the impossible, that he knows what happened, knows what he is now. And yet, with a chuckle that sounds more like a sob, he realizes something else.

He's never felt more alive.

*

"Why did you do it?"

Dongwook's fingers pause in their movements, hovering over Junsu's skin. "I just found you. Can't let my pet die before I've had my fill, now can I?" He slides in closer, wrapping a strong arm around Junsu's waist, bringing their naked bodies together. "It would be a sin to let that mouth go to waste," he whispers into Junsu's ear, voice low and seductive, sending thrills down the boy's spine.

"I... I think I'm hungry."

A resounding chuckle that grows into a full laughter, "Of course you are. And you'll feed, soon enough. And then, Junsu... Then you're mine."

*

Dongwook urges him to kill the lonesome old man walking along the streets, probably heading home to his family. But Junsu refuses and drinks from the man attempting to mug, instead.

For a moment, he feels satisfied. Sated and fully able to concentrate on something other than hunger.

However, the blood comes back up and he throws up violently onto the dead body at his feet.

"Well then, what did you go and do that for?" Dongwook asks, mystified. He places a comforting yet controlling hand on the back of Junsu's neck, squeezing in a gentle threat. "You have to keep it down, or you won't finish the transition, little one."

"I... I felt disgusted."

"Hmm, maybe it was something he ate," he laughs at his own dumb joke. "Come then, let us find another one for you to suckle on. This time, when I pick, you obey, got it? I don't care much for decency, morals and all that. We are vampires, Junsu. Humans are nothing but sacks of blood for us to prey upon."

He huffs out a weak laugh, throat choking up with loss, "I stood a human less than a day ago. It's not easy to break free of those morals you spit on."

"Ah, I'll teach you how. It's easy to stop caring once you realize how weak humans are and how you," he grasps Junsu's cheeks, eyes intense, "you are not. You're immortal now, I gave you a gift. Afraid of death, you said. No longer. Lost and without a future. No longer." His lips lift up into a menacing grin, fingers stroking Junsu's skin, "It's time you stopped pitying yourself, and lived."

Yoochun has tried his very best to go under the radar. He changes apartments often, never uses credit cards, only cash. Doesn't stay in one city for long. And yet, Jaejoong always finds him. Always manages to call him. Once, he went without a phone for a month and got fired from work because his annoying friend wouldn't stop calling and asking for him. So he accepted his fate and began collecting and listening to Jaejoong's messages.

He's not angry anymore, or so he likes to think. Five years have passed by quickly. He coped with the nightmares, he coped with the betrayal and he finds himself stronger of mind now.

But the thought of seeing Yunho's face again brings up a resentment he's tried to bury. He betrayed me, he thinks and yet he knows Yunho did only what was best for the Society. He left me behind, but even he has lived and hunted by the principle of one for many. His life for his friends'. Perhaps if the choice had been his, he would have made it willingly. But at that single moment, when he'd been taken, he only remembers panic and then pain and then worse, fear

Screaming for help that wouldn't arrive but for days later... Is it a wonder he needed to break away from it all? Can't Jaejoong understand why he's not answering, why he's staying away?

But he can't keep this up for long. Jobs that hold no meaning, cash for rent and cigarettes, the occasional prey to feed on, although he doesn't kill, tries not to hurt - still follows the Society's rules. He's a hunter, a good one at that. He used to live for it, love it.

And by God, how he misses it.

*

You have 1 message.

"Alright, Yoochun, this is it. Tomorrow, at midnight there's a raid on a club called Seven a few blocks from your sleazy apartment. Now, that's S-E-7-E-N, yes, exactly as dumb as it sounds. Be there. This is my last message, so if you're not there... Goodbye, Chun. Have a-"

The fact that Jaejoong didn't leave a second message to finish his sentence is a clear sign that he means it this time. Yoochun falters.

Then he makes his choice.

*
"VIP only, Sir."

The burly bouncer's obviously a vampire, if he had the strength to actually force Yoochun into taking a step back from the open doorway. He can see a hallway leading into a dimly lit room, where occasionally someone passes the entrance. So far Yoochun has seen vampires holding wine glasses full of dark liquid, vampires dragging their limp, barely-awake victims, vampires carrying the dead bodies.

It is obvious why the Society is intervening with the club's business. It's all well and good when the people come to feeding clubs willingly, with full knowledge of what they're offering and what will be taken. No one dies or gets overly hurt, everyone has a good time, nobody talks about it outside of the club's premises. Se7en is breaking the rules.

And this bouncer is apparently okay with working in such an establishment, probably gets offered hot young girls or boys to suck dry.

So, Yoochun feels no remorse when he twists the other's hold, steps to the right and swivels to the left, now facing the man's back. Quickly he snaps the bouncer's neck and catches the limp body. He makes a show of staggering and laughing, nodding at a few clubbers close-by, "Guess who's drinking on the job?", taking note of the security on the balcony who saw it all and is moving to the stairs at a rapid pace, shoving people out of the way without care. He smirks and turns towards the VIP room, dragging the dead weight with him.

His body shudders as he heaves one last time, his body almost doubled over the sink. He breathes unevenly, shakily as he looks up and stares at his reflection. His skin is still not the pure, smooth pale that a vampire is expected to have. Instead, he looks sick, starving.

He's dying again.

Dongwook sighs from his place at the doorway leading to his master suite, "It seems that children aren't to your taste either."

Junsu squeezes his eyes shut at the words, remembering the boy's numb, tired expression as he leaned down to press his fangs into the already pierced neck.

"Why am I like this, why can't I feed?"

"I don't know, I've never met anyone like you before," Dongwook remarks calmly, taking a step closer to slide his hands up and down on Junsu's bare arms, hoping to comfort.
Junsu shrugs off Dongwook's hands, "Don't even try!"

The other vampire snarls but backs off, "Will you stop your incessant whining!?"

Junsu paces into Dongwook's private suite, choking on a whimper.

"I'm hungry, and it's not going away!"

"I told you, I have no idea why you can't keep the blood down-"

"You made me into this, this is all your fault."

Dongwook growls, "There you go again- whining!" Tired of hearing it, he uses his speed and strength to run up to the boy and throw him into the furthest wall, satisfied at the cracks of bones he hears. "If you won't transition, you're of no use to me. So I might as well put an end to your miserable existence right now." He begins a steady walk towards the slumped figure but falters when Junsu looks up.

His entire eyes, even the whites have turned black. His gaze seemingly a bottomless pit, drawing Dongwook up short and causing him to freeze in fear, as if he's in shock, as if he's prey, human.

"Junsu, what the hell-" he tries to gasp out.

"I know what I need now," Junsu answers, voice low and making Dongwook's head pulse and throb from the power behind it.

A second later, Junsu is on him, fangs sunk deep into his neck, the bite vicious and painful. Instead of screaming, Dongwook manages a grunt and a whisper of a shout, before getting sucked into an empty husk.

Junsu drops the body and moans in satisfaction. Something clicks into place inside him.

He feels... right.

He's surrounded.

"Not exactly welcoming of new members, are you? You're getting a shitty review from me, for sure. " He says, bored.

"Who the hell are you?" Gasps the bouncer, having awoken from his broken-neck-coma.

Yoochun 'tsks', taking in the cheesy victorianesque decor, the high walls, the large glass-ceiling.

The large glass-ceiling

He grins cheerfully and checks the watch on his wrist. Two seconds tick by and the clock strikes midnight.

The ceiling above breaks into a shower of glass, a figure following down among it. Once having landed gracefully, the man moves in swift turns, flicking his twin swords effortlessly, too fast for the eye to see. Heads drop from necks as the four bouncers surrounding Yoochun and the new intruder slump onto the ground, finally dead for good.

The man turns to Yoochun and glares, "So nice for you to finally return my messages."

He smirks, not bothered by the other's anger, "I kind of missed all the violence, you know? A good outlet."

The other's face screws up in outrage before he relaxes, sighing, even the hands holding his swords falling to his sides, "Of-fucking-course, why am I not surprised that that's your reason for finally paying attention to my calls."

"Jae, I always paid attention. I just didn't hear anything worth replying to," he smiles widely, without shame.

"I should rip your fucking head off," Jaejoong mutters, taking a searching look around the VIP room, "Where are the others? The clients? The club's owner?"

He shrugs, "Most of the clients ran towards the nearest exit, I'm sure your guys will have them surrounded and headless by now. I heard that the club's owner is upstairs, though. With his new boy, apparently." Jaejoong's eyebrows fly up at that but then he rolls his eyes and heads for the hallway leading to the toilets and the stairs that lead up to the suites.

"Come along, then. Let's see this place properly raided and then we can return home and get a little midnight snack. Both of us," he adds with a meaningful glance behind him.

Yoochun chuckles halfheartedly, "Sure, sure."

If this night has proved anything, it's that he's still got it. And he still loves it.

Time to go back home.
