There is nothing wrong with Green Lantern, the movie, that couldn't have been fixed by the inclusion of a five year old child. No, not in the movie, they had a kid for cute value (who quickly disappeared and was never seen again, but that's ok) - as an assistant to the director

Also Sinestro saw smoked by a rookie lantern from a backwater in like twenty minutes and then only then decided the power of fear was for him, that was the way to go.

I have heard a lot of people trash GL for whiffing the soft pitch--space cops with imagination-powered rings should be easy to do well.
