Deliberate Obscurity

I hate legaslise and more so i hate legislation that primarily stikes passages and inserts new passages, but does not include the remainder of the section of law so as to render usless the reading of the legislation. I just read the 150 pages of health care reform. Now i have to hunt down the original laws to make sure I understand what they are ( Read more... )

I'm half convinced it's deliberate on the part of lawyers and politicians as a way of shoring up their power: after all, if no one understands law but them, we need them around. If it was written in plain language, would we need so many lawyers?

The fact that you bothered to read this legislation makes you better educated on the health care bill than the majority of members of Congress. That's excellent on your part, and kind of sad on the part of our legislature.

It also makes me feel kind of slimy that I'm considering going into law and/or politics. Yikes.

It is ok to want to go into Law or Politics as long as you never forget what you said about it and don't fall into the trap of what the others are doing. Is that Possible? Not certain only you can tell on that front.
