Common Problem as a unifying "Common Enemy"

Dec 16, 2008 01:05

From my comments in the conversation following my post Perfectionism is In the Details:

Humans work on an "us" and "them" basis. As I said in a recent comment on a post that seems to have disappeared, I believe this to be "hardwired" into our systems, whereas WHO QUALIFIES as "us" and "not-us" (and therefore "them") is both socialized and ( Read more... )

This time, I happen to completely agree with you.

Well, this time, it is my original writing, too.

The posts you have most taken issue with have been where I
have quoted others... who I thought made interesting points,
but not my own points. I can be interested in a perspective
that I do not altogether share... and enjoy the ensuing
conversation, as well.

The basic concept of "us" and "them" is pre-programmed in our mind, and is therefore unchangable. But the factors that define the borders between "us" and "them" are not static. They change all the time, and a lot faster than you think.Yes: it is "hardwired" vs. socialized, contextual and situational "software ( ... )

[CONTINUED]

There are a number of obvious reasons for me to qualify you as "them"; you are a woman while I am a man, you live on the wrong side of the ocean, you have another etnical and religious background, and you are religious while I am an atheist.Woman, check ( ... )

I put together a combination of this post and my following comments... ca_katarina December 29 2008, 15:26:53 UTC

... and posted it on my OKCupid account:

BlueLynx65 Journal Post #1

My oldest sister, who was a social activist, replied:

Well done.

I have experienced it where two community groups with separate agendas are briefly united for one effort - for whatever reason, their agendas coincide on one issue. And there’s a wonderful feeling of merging two different “us” groups and it feels like it could go on forever. But of course each group has a different ultimate goal - a different definition of “good” - so it’s only a matter of time before they reach a fork in the road, and that can be painful.

Am not yet properly awake,.. and barely got m' motor running..........in a mental context.

However,
even in my muddled state.......this post gets m'

Twill be instructive to see just how much momentum this particular strand generates.

Another take on all that.

(From Internet Explorer mode).

A bit later.

No disagreements.

And.

Like I said, this baby will fly.

I'll be back. I just need to complete with the feedback from last nights emotive explosion.*

So far, Coen is a maybe. "Beavis the wise" is
right out there in poetic stream of consciousnessing.......and has proven the eating
with respect to the ongoingness of the "work" as expressed in both......the website
http://www.i-balls.org

and the title one minute movie clip; itself the
precursor (to the world working 101) Series.

(Due sometime around now).

*In the emotional intelligence bag. (Inside various spacetime/space, time and money; continuum.............. relationships; in abstractions............."other-than".)

To be continued.......................

K baby.

Am downhill on the clarity your umm.............word-wise-ing

has leapt between my ears.

Behind my eyes as it were.

One could get used to this.

Love what the as-envisaged(ing)... part of me is doing with the visuals............. on brain........ "continues after death."

In context with all the new take on the complexities of "Mind".

This is indeed this.

Not dissing this.... is what I should-have/could-have/would-have,
had Coen be dun doing.

Had one been this clear then.
