Where our heroine is quite the little masochist...

Um. So, I was walking up The Terrace at lunchtime and I had a wee peak at the overseas flight prices in the window of Flight Centre. Just cos ( Read more... )

Pay off debt first.
Cheap New York flights will come again, as long as there is a New York. Unless there's Godzilla. And face it, you wouldn't want to be in New York for Godzilla.

Though, about the dress, could you take me shopping some time? Because some of the things you wear are just fantastic, and I'm the sort of person who could use some help getting herself dressed from time to time. So I refuse to help dissuade you there. :P

If you can save enough to pay for the tickets without borrowing money, go for it.

I would agree with morbane. Cheap tickets will come up again, and is the stress of not having that money worth having the trip now rather than later? New York ain't going anywhere, and wouldn't it be more enjoyable when you don't have to watch costs quite so much? I do understand the appeal, I do. But I do feel like it's probably not the best choice.

Hm. I was going for a jokey, ah-look-at-me-I'm-an-eejit tone for the post. Cos as I was writing, I knew I wasn't going to be able to pull it off! Not with my spending habits, anyhoo. ;P Guess that didn't come across. Bloody internet.

Anyhoo. Matt and I talked about it again...and he reckons he'd need to give himself a lot more time if we were going to do a big trip like that. Just cos he's not sure if his mental health would be up to it...cos my last trip was a strain enough on mine! And, if he's going back to study this year, he won't have any money to save at all! So...maybe we should start with a mini-break to Nelson. ;P

By the way...I am in the process of replying to your last post! Will finish it off today, k?

Haha, good ol' internet. Maybe you should get into vlogging! ;)

I just saw it. You're a champ, didja know that? You're wise and thoughtful and I so appreciate you taking the time to write that. Not coming up to Aucks anytime soon, are you? Out of curiosity...

Hrm. We're going to go away for Hogmanay, somewhere up north where no one can find us, with a box of Lush and booze!

I kind of echo what your other friends said regarding saving and not being skint for the sake of something that won't last very long. And it seems you do realise that it could be quite a foolish, spur-of-the-moment decision. On the other hand, it's not my money or my life, and of course I'd love to see you, dafty!

I know I frequently go away for New Year's, as does Shani. (Not like we're the reason you'd be coming exactly, but for the record.) Also, travelling as a couple can be more expensive as you will likely want your own private room, so factor that in.

Yeah, I did think of that. I mean, we will want to get up to things couples do (heh) at some point on our trip, and that'd be a lot harder if we were in a hostel dorm room. ;P Unless we picked random locations around NYC at which to get up to things. Could work. ;p

I think, at this stage, NYC isn't going to happen this year. ;P Maybe later, on that magic day when funds actually exist for the pair of us. We'll let you know.
