So, as some of you would have seen from my latest FB update, I found out yesterday I'm ineligible for an unemployment benefit from the Government, as Matt "earns too much

Oh, that sucks, Erin. :( I really hope a job comes through soon. But please, know that you are loved and would be greatly missed if anything happened to you.
Heartily seconded on all counts. *huge hugs* It can and will get better, honey, no matter how dark it looks now. I promise. You are surrounded by people who would care a very great deal if something bad happened to you. Take care of yourself, and keep trying on the job front.
And you know if there's anything I can do, you only have to ask.
On a practical note, have you signed up with some admin temp agencies, to keep doing something while you look for the kind of work you want to do? There are some (I think GBL Personnel is one) who deal with government work too.
It's all completely crap. I have definitely been in your situation, and as you know I'm with you on the job-hunt right now, and I know how badly it sucks. You have all the right in the world to feel angry and pissed off and sorry for yourself and like you're weakening. Stressful times are stressful.
But remember those times when you're happy and everything feels like it's fallen in to place and you're glad you've survived this far? Those times will come again lovely. Don't let something as discouraging and tempestuous as money tempt you into thinking you are anything other than a wonderful human being with wonderful possibilities ahead of you. And don't let guilt add to your worries and pain - you would(/will) do the same for your kids. It's what parents're there for (well, it's part of what they're there for ;o)).
What a fucking shitty development. I am so sorry to hear about this. But I know you will find something, and in the meantime, let your parents help you if they can. Like what your other friends said, that's what parents are for. I am beyond grateful right now for the recent help my parents have given me.
Have you thought about doing paid online surveys/focus groups? Or being a secret shopper to pick up some extra cash? Or working in a shop or something just until you find something better for your career?
Please take care of yourself and keep going to therapy. This is very very tough but it's temporary and you will make it through to the good times again.
Yup, it's pretty shitty. There have been lots of tears, and right now I just want to curl up into bed and hide away for several days.

I really do hope the situation doesn't get so bad that I have to consider going back to retail. I did 2.5 years in retail, and the mere thought of having to work behind a shop counter again makes me feel ill. However, I am going for either part-time or temporary administration/support officer roles-particularly in Government agencies, as I may be able to climb my way up the food chain. Am nervous about temping, as some companies treat temps like absolute crap. But...we'll see.
I'm still going to therapy. I'm going to ask Mum if she can cover the costs...because, well, this is the time when I need therapy more than ever.

Yes, exactly.
Just remember, this is temporary. It will pass, and you can make it through.
A week ago at this time I was feeling miserable and crying on the phone to my parents. Then, literally within 3 days, everything turned around and I am feeling so much better. So please darling, hang in there. We all love you and are pulling for you.
