I went onto CNN.com this evening as I always do the night before APUSH so I have a good current event to share with the class.  I came across an article entitled "U.N. approves call for ban on human cloning".  I knew right away this would be a good one to get pissed about.

Very well put, Will. I agree with you on all aspects of this issue. In order to save someone's life a little embryo must be killed. Let's balance this out here. We have a full grown human who has experienced life emotionally, physically, and mentally. We assume that this human has loving friends and family. We can also assume that this human has done at least one thing to help the world (no matter how small). Now we have an embryo. This embryo hasn't really experienced life. It hasn't made any aquaintances with anyone as far as I'm concerned. No one is really "tamed" by this embryo, except by its quiet existence. So which one should die, the human or the embryo? This is a question aimed at people against stem cell research.

I never really thought of it in that way before... I like the way you think. Just one thing though, the embryo has tamed their mother. She's not going to be the same afterwards, whether she has the child or not.

You have a good point there. The mother will no doubt go through a very life-changing, emotional stage. I guess the issue depends on whether the mother wants to go through that or not.
