Personally, I think you should take your year-long story and turn it into a fairy tale or work of fiction with non-fiction content, (use fun characters, perhaps animals or beings that represent certain aspects or people to allow a sense of appeal) otherwise you'll find yourself getting incredibly and utterly bored (no offense of course, I'm sure you had a productive and interesting annual exhaustion)

As for the small piece of thick cartilage in the central area of the outer ear at the base of the canal that you pierced, I think it sounds painful since I don't remember very much skin being in that area, but a large amount of dense, tough to break cartilage...I'm curious how long that would take to heal...it would certainly suck if that piece of the ear got infected though...

But I guess I'm a guy, I shouldn't really know about ear piercings...

well, let us hope it doesnt get infected..that would suck. It really didnt hurt that much when she pierced it, kind of like a shot, but when she stuck the jewlery in, that was quite painful, but it only lasted a few seconds. It takes 4-6 weeks to heal, not terribly long.

No offense taken. I dont know how creative I can be changing people into animals though...it could be fun though.

i actually like turning real events into metaphors much better than writing things as they actually happened.
i dont think i've used animals yet though....
