I bought my Sense and Sensibility copy strictly based on Rickman's performance. The ultimate Brandon, I thought him.

The voice, and the wonderful way he moved stayed the same and made me forget his age.

I saw him first as Snape, and then looked for all his other films - he was indeed the perfect Brandon.

Yes, his charisma helped the fandom become this vast and incredibly creative community. It's a consolation, but... I'll miss him.

It is a sad day for the fandom.

I'd watched Rickman in several movies before HP, and was one of those people overjoyed when he was cast as Snape. He might be too old for the role, but he created a character that was much more than a caricature (especially in the beginning, when people hadn't grasped Snape's importance in the larger picture.)

I saw him in 2008. He visited to do an interview for Performing Arts Students. I had no business to be there... I snuck in. He was great. Amazing voice.
