Summary: Kyuhyun has developed a different addiction and Donghae wants to know what it is. But Kyuhyun hasn't told him. He hasn't told anyone for that matter. He has been sneaking out late at night and staying out until the wee hours. Only one other person knows and that is the person who introduced him to it. This new addiction is dangerous but Kyuhyun doesn't care. As long as he gets his fix he could care less. But this new addiction will cause the lives of Super Junior to change, some more than others.
A/N: I didn't know what to call this. It was just called Donghae x Kyuhyun but I decided to name it after the song I was listening to while I was writting this. Which is What have you done by Within Temptation. Now that I think about it, I think the title works pretty well for it.
Donghae rolled over and sighed looking at the clock. 3:17 am flashed back at him. It was three in the morning and he couldn’t sleep, but that’s not why he sighed. It didn’t matter to him that he was still awake this late at night, which he had been doing for the past few nights, but what mattered was that Kyuhyun was not back home yet. He had left five hours ago, sneaking out, he might add, and he has not come back yet.
It had been this way for the past two or so weeks. Its’ been two weeks since Donghae noticed it and he had no clue how long he had been staying out late at night.
Donghae would always wait for Kyuhyun to come home, always staying up until his eyes became too heavy for him to keep open and he would drift off to sleep, which was usually around four in the morning, which during that time, Kyuhyun would never come home, but he would always wake up the next morning and see Kyuhyun sleeping in his bed across from his own. Kyuhyun would sleep like a rock until it was time to start the day and go on with his schedules, never having time to eat a proper breakfast, he would always grab something like a snack bar on his way out the door.
Donghae didn’t want to call him out on it, especially in front of the other members, so he never really asked the question he wanted to know the answer to. He would always say to him, “Kyuhyun, you look tired. Did you not sleep well?” or “You’re working too hard, maybe you should take a break,” every time Kyuhyun would always say it was nothing and that he was just having trouble sleeping well. But no matter how late he stayed out and how much sleep he lost, he would always act hide how exhausted he was and go on with his day not complaining or anything. Occasionally, Donghae would see him sleeping in a corner somewhere and he would have to carry him back to the dorms and let him sleep in his own bed.
Kyuhyun never spoke of what he did at night and Donghae never wanted to pressure him into telling him. Donghae just thought that maybe he was just practicing hard. He was known to do that. Especially since he had started to take bigger roles in the dance routines now and dancing was not his strongest suit. Donghae would always see him trying to perfect his moves so he didn’t disappoint himself or the other members. He wanted to be the best he could at everything he did. Along with dance practice, he was always doing vocal lessons, which Donghae didn’t know why, his voice was better than most people in the music business today. He didn’t need to work on his singing.
But Donghae noticed one night, as he was staying late himself, he walked past the dance studio and saw that it was empty. He then later found out that Kyuhyun had left with the other members to go back to the dorms, but when he got home later, everyone had said that Kyuhyun was not home. They all thought that he was going to stay back at the studio.
Something was going on and it was irritating Donghae that he didn’t know what it was. And what irritated him even more was that Kyuhyun was not telling him anything about it. And he didn’t know why. They were close after all…well, used to be.
The minutes started to tick by and he looked over at the clock again and saw that it read 4:23 am. Kyuhyun was still not home.
Giving up, Donghae rolled over and started to drift off to sleep when he heard the door to his and Kyuhyun’s shared room open. Rolling over to see who it was, he saw Kyuhyun’s profile in the doorway.
Donghae sat up and rubbed his eyes, acting like he had just been woken up.
“Kyuhyun-ah? What are you doing up so late? Did you just get home?” He asked looking down at the younger’s day clothes. He was wearing the same clothes he had on earlier that day…or yesterday.
Walking in the door, Kyuhyun froze when he saw that Donghae was up.
He walked over to his bed and began to undress and change into his pajamas.
“Sorry hyung, I didn’t mean to wake you.” He said slipping under the covers. He was exhausted and he knew that once his head touched his pillow, it wouldn’t be long before he would be fast asleep, only to be woken up, what felt like minutes later, to Donghae shaking him awake, telling him that it was time to go, which is what he did every day.
Kyuhyun covered his mouth to stop a yawn. “Yeah I just got home. I was practicing so much that I lost track of the time.” His eyes slowly started to drift lower and lower.
Donghae didn’t say anything. He knew the younger man was lying and calling him out on it now was not the time. One, because he wasn’t sure what exactly he would be calling him out on. He didn’t know what he was doing while he was gone all night, almost every night, and until he was positive of what he was doing, and he was going to act like he didn’t know. Two, Kyuhyun looked exhausted and he knew that he wouldn’t even hear him if he said anything anyway. So he let it go…again.
Donghae watched as Kyuhyun drifted off to sleep, feeling a little bad knowing that he was going to have to wake him up in three short hours. And that was not enough sleep. Sighing, he leaned back into his own bed and closed his eyes. He had stayed up long enough, and now that Kyuhyun was home and safe he was able to clear his mind and drift off to sleep as well.
_________________________________________________________
All the members were awake and were in the kitchen eating, except for one, the one that had stayed out all night. Their day was filled to the brim with schedules and they were all about to head out when Donghae walked into his room and over to the sleeping maknae. He looked so peaceful, Donghae was upset that he had to wake him up. But if he walked out of the room without Kyuhyun the other members would think something was wrong, which there was he just didn’t know what it was, and they would think that Kyuhyun was sick and Kyuhyun always hated it when the others thought he was ill and tried to take care of him. He never liked to feel or seem weak in the eyes of his hyungs.
Gripping Kyuhyun’s shoulder, Donghae shook him slightly, knowing that it was going to have to take more than that to wake him up. Even when he had the proper amount of sleep, Kyuhyun was hard to wake up, and when he woke up he was cranky and more snarky than usual. Donghae gripped both shoulders this time and shook even harder, the motion causing Kyuhyun’s head to shake from side to side. Still nothing. Sighing, Donghae got up on the bed and started to bounce up and down, effectively waking the younger up.
“Yah!” Kyuhyun shouted, “What are you doing?” He sounded a little pissed at being woken up. Donghae was sure that it wasn’t just the fact that he was woken up, but the fact he had been woken by a jumping Donghae on his bed.
Grinning widely, Donghae looked down at the other, not bothering to quit his bouncing, “Kyuhyun wake up!” He shouted like a little kid, he could have gone and not done that but Donghae was Donghae and he always resorted to childish ways, “It’s time to wake up!”
“I heard you the first time!”
Laughing, Donghae got off the bed. He slapped Kyuhyun’s backside, “Come on, everyone’s waiting. It’s time to go.”
Shoving his face into his pillow, Kyuhyun groaned and pushed himself up. “Give me a minute.” He walked over to the wardrobe and picked something to wear blindly.
“Fine, but hurry up.” Donghae said over his shoulder as he walked back out into the living room.
Two minutes later Kyuhyun walked out looking as if he had had a wonderful night’s sleep and was ready for a new day. He grabbed his bag from off the floor and ran into the kitchen to grab; Donghae knew it, a cereal bar.
“Kyuhyun, that’s not a very good breakfast.” Leeteuk commented.
“I’m young, I can run on anything. Do you remember the days when you could do that too?” He retorted back, earning a couple of sniggers from the other members in the room. Leeteuk let it slip by, he always did. Kyuhyun’s snarky little comments in the morning were normal, as well as any other time during the day. But the comments were always more frequent after he had just woken up.
That one little bar seemed to always be enough for Kyuhyun until it was lunch time, which he always made up for the breakfast he never ate.
Kyuhyun and the rest of the 11th floor dorm occupants headed out the door to catch the elevator down, which the other members from the 12th floor were holding open as they waited for them to get in. Once inside, Kyuhyun ripped open the cereal bar with his teeth and ate. The ride down was silent; it always was, except for the rattling of the wrappings of Kyuhyun’s cereal bar and the occasional crunch as he would take a bite.
They all climbed into the van that was waiting for them outside of the building. Kyuhyun got in the back, knowing that he would be more likely to be able to sleep a little more if he so chose to. If he sat anywhere else, another member would always wake him up. When he sat in the back, he could at least get a few more minutes of sleep and Donghae would always be the one to wake him up, just like when they were in the dorms. Donghae was the only one that he would let wake him up and not snap back at him for doing so.
Once they were all in the van. Leeteuk told the members exactly what their schedule was for the day. Kyuhyun never knew why he did that. He would always end up giving the paper that told them what they were doing for the day once they got out later on.
Donghae sat back as he let Leeteuk’s rambling wash over him. He never listened to what he said, and he was sure he wasn’t the only one. They all already knew what their day was going to be like, and he didn’t know why Leeteuk even bothered to tell them. But he assumed that it gave the talkative man something to do for the car ride instead of listen to Heechul’s complaints, which he always did once Leeteuk stopped talking. Looking out the window, Donghae briefly wondered if talking that much, and fast, was like vocal lessons. And that maybe that’s why Leeteuk never really took them and yet his voice still sounded good. He would have to test that out one day.
Donghae let his eyes wonder over all the members, until his eyes came to his roommate. Kyuhyun had his eyes looking out the window, looking like he was ignoring what Leeteuk was saying as well. Donghae vaguely noticed that it looked like Kyuhyun was doing all he could do to keep himself awake. He saw that there were dark circles under his eyes and he knew that the stylist noona would have a field day covering those up. She always did. But every time she asked how come he always looked so tired, he always fell back on his gaming addiction as an excuse, which he would use on the other members when they asked the same thing.
Kyuhyun would always say, “I was up late last night playing Starcraft.” Which everyone believed. Kyuhyun was known for his notorious gaming addiction, no one would question him further once he said those words. Those very convincing words. Everyone always believed him, everyone but Donghae. He was his roommate after all. And as much as Donghae wanted Kyuhyun to be wasting his nights in front of his computer, playing said Starcraft, he knew it wouldn’t happen. Kyuhyun kept sneaking out at night and continued to stay until the wee hours.
In fact, Kyuhyun hadn’t been playing Starcraft lately. He only played it when he was in full view of the other members and when he did; he lacked the interest he always used to have. And that fact, along with Kyuhyun’s late nights, scared him. There was nothing that could pull Kyuhyun’s attention away from that game. Donghae would know. He would occasionally try to pull his attention away with ludicrous things, trying to get some attention from him. Most of the time just as a joke -once he even tried hitting on him and putting moves on him - but they never worked. But for the past few weeks, even something as simple as walking into the room had him distracted from his laptop.
The van stopped in front of their destination, which was the radio station and everyone climbed out. Donghae sat back and waited for everyone else to leave first, knowing that he was going to have to stay and wake Kyuhyun up again. He had fallen asleep on the ride there. The members got out one by one. They all stood by to wait for the others so they could all go in together. Whenever they could stay together like a family, which wasn’t as often as the public thought, they all had their own busy schedules and never really had together time, they would always try to spend as much time as they could together. Even if it was just walking down the hallway with one another, they always did. They all were away from their families and Super Junior was like a second family to each of them.
Ryeowook was the last one to get out, other than Donghae and Kyuhyun. The little man was tired and was not watching where he was putting his feet, when he took a step a little too big, sticking his foot all the way out of the van. He expected there to be floor beneath his feet, but he was shocked to find that it was lower than he thought and he fell forward and face planted on the concrete ground.
Since everyone was waiting around the door of the van, everyone was there to see Ryeowook fall. Siwon and Yesung tried to catch him, but neither got a good grip on him and he fell anyway. Heechul cackled his head off when Ryeowook stood and his face was a red as a tomato, not seeming to care whether if his dongsaeng was okay or not, even though everyone knew he cared.
Kyuhyun hadn’t realized he was asleep until he heard Heechul’s cackle. Jumping up, Kyuhyun looked around and saw that they had arrived at the studio and that he and Donghae were the only ones left on the bus. Everyone else was outside all huddled around Ryeowook.
Yawning to the point where his jaw popped, Kyuhyun grabbed his bag and started to get out.
“Hyung, what happened?” He asked as he passed by Donghae.
Seeing that he wasn’t going to need to wake Kyuhyun up, Donghae stood and followed Kyuhyun out, closing the door behind him.
“Ryeowook fell out of the van.”
Kyuhyun look at Ryeowook, “Hyung, are you okay?” he asked noticing the shorter man rub his scrapped hands on his jeans.
“I’m fine, Kyuhyun.” And he walked to the door, not meeting anyone’s gaze.
They all started to follow Ryeowook inside. Eunhyuk passed by the still cackling Heechul, hissing, “You could at least pretend to worry whether Ryeowook is okay or not,” and walked on by.
“Yah! Who are you to talk to me that way? I’m your hyung!” He shouted, chasing after the others.
Donghae rolled his eyes. Sometimes he wondered if he really was their hyung or not. He never really acted that way sometimes. A lot of the times, he acted more sinister than Kyuhyun, the evil maknae.
A/N: This was inspired by a fan video I saw online. I will link them later on the last chapter of this series *I don't want this to be spoiled :)*
This is my first chaptered fic and please tell me what you think so far. Sorry if this seems like a weird place to stop. But I wrote this as one big story and I had to cut it somewhere.
I'm not sure if I will make Donghae's and Kyuhyun's relationship become romantic, as of now its not, but that might change later. (just telling you so those who are looking for a story with just Kyuhae romance in it to know that maybe this fic will disappoint them. And if thats the case, I won't be upset if you don't read any further than this chapter. Though I would encourage you to read on.)
COMMMENT COMMENT COMMENT! Always comment!
(psst, by reading this you have given me brief control of your mind *muwahahaha*) I never get tired of saying that
