I really know what you mean by your last statement. I feel like I used to have goals, aspirations, I feel like I used to be doing something artistic and productive, now I feel like I sit on my ass and don't do much at all. My friends and I have resurrected an old band, which I feel is a start.
Anyway, I know how you feel. If there's anything I can do to help you straighten out let me know.
Might I suggest not enlisting? Enlistment is fine and dandy, but unless you are more than willing to take it in the ass (figuratively of course, they don't let queers in), enlisting for the wrong reasons will bring you to a worse position than you are already in. But take this with a grain of salt (or the entire fucking Dead Sea, if you wish), I am not speaking from personal experience, just hearsay and advice from admittedly anti-military types.
I understand, and believe me, it's not for the wrong reasons.
I need a career to get moving soon, or else I am financially fucked for the rest of my life. The military is a surefire way to have that career. It's worked for my family, and I can see it working for me. But it also manages to be quite a motivator, as I really would rather be an actor.
