But frankly while I understand the purpose of things like LIVE LIKE YOU'RE ON FOODSTAMPS weeks and shit like fucking Nickel and Dimed is to be ~helpful~ and teach people ~empathy~ for those sad pathetic ~working poor~ mostly all they do is piss me off. Yes. Yes. Exactly this. When I was bumming around with my then boyfriend, he would always talk about how important it was to salvage things people threw away, how water was full of chemicals that would hurt your skin, how homeless people should eat vegan, and all this bullshit that trustafarians spout when they decide to discover themselves for a few years before coming home and raking in all the money from their fucking loaded trust funds. I used to call him an economic tourist. I fucking hated him for that.

Aside from anything else, it seems acceptable to "only" spend say $50 for a week on food, but then they use their existing expensive and large stock of food.

Having a week or a month experience of "poverty" doesn't make you understand. In the words of Pulp,
