Helpline for readers of Book 7
Waterstone's has announced plans to set up a special helpline for fans after Deathly Hallows comes out this summer. JKR revealed in June that two more characters would die (who she hadn't intended on dying), and the UK book chain says "this could be a similar moment to when Take That split up - there could be a lot of upset teenagers out there. We are looking to set up a helpline for them." (c)Mugglenet.com
They are setting up a help line for teens upset about fictional deaths?!? I know I was very upset when Sirius died, or anyone in my favorite books, and granted I'm in my 20s, but still... It's just a book people!!! However much we love the characters, and write about them.. THEY AREN'T REAL!! If nothing else, write a fanfic where whoever didn't die, or are brought back!! There is something wrong if you need to call a help line because your favorite FICTIONAL person died!!!! If you get that upset about something fictional, you probably should be reading something where bad things happen and people die.
Disclaimer: I'm not saying that someone who is very upset shouldn't call a help line or shouldn't seek help. I'd be quite a hypocrite if I said that depression wasn't real, or that someone calling a help line or seeing a shrink is stupid or wrong. So don't sue me or get me kicked off of lj. I just think that it seems ridiculous that something like this is being set up for fictional characters... That's what fanfic and forums are for! ;]
