Sorry to be a creep and bother you! But I searched SFAI and randomly picked a person to talk to. I'm planning on applying and considering attending the school next fall. How do you like it? :) -Vivian
Damn girl, you picked the right person to talk to! :) But anyway...the school has been really great for me so far. The faculty is really inspiring and the facilities are small but still great spaces to work in. I guess it depends on what your major is? I heard that photo isn't so great anymore because they got rid of the color processor and a lot of people are really disappointed by that. Also, the school has been having some financial problems for a while now and they've been cutting back on a lot of great staff. Those are the only real downers about the school. Other than that i really love all of my classes and the city is an awesome place to live in. There's lots of fun things happening all the time. Oh yeah, and the kidzz at SFAI are prettty rad!
Ahh that makes me so excited and considering it even more! I'm stuck between two completely opposite majors, either fine arts or illustration (do they even offer illustration? haha) Alsooo... Do they have dorms? What's your major?
Hmmm our school isn't so hot for illustration. You should probably check out RISD or Art Center for that, or CCA which is also in san fran/oakland. But our school is awesome for Fine Art aka conceptual.
The school does have dorms but i totally suggest finding another living situation. The school used to have housing in the Presidio, which is the military base in SF and it was really awesome because we lived right in the forest area. But the school moved the dorms downtown in a kind of rough-ish part of the city. Plus, i heard that they just suck! So yeah, try to find a cool place with a roommate!
I'm a printmaker, but i came in a sculpture major. The cool thing about our school is that you can change your major whenever you want. And and and, you can take classes that are outside of your major. Sweeet.
