We have a great veggie garden each year and though I don't do much of the work I just wanted to point out something on your chart regarding leeks. This is the vegetable we get the most bang for our buck. If you visit some of the flats here in Burnaby you can get the little plants for super cheap - like 24 for $4. We simply plant them the May long weekend and then let them grow all winter and pick them as we need them. The last ones come out for Easter dinner. There's no need to plant them indoors first unless you're growing them from seeds which may be more of a pain than its worth.

Let me know how your lettuce works out. We've always had terrible luck but are going to try it again this year.

I wish I'd known that about leeks. We grow most things from seed, and I've already picked them up. Hopefully they'll be just as easy grown from seed!

We've always had luck with lettuce, it's the only thing I don't seem to kill! I think it needs a lot of sun. I don't know. This whole gardening thing is new, so far just the tip of my thumb is green, whereas Matt has a green _hand_ when it comes to gardening. :)
