I still don't have my new computer. I ordered about an hour after the last time I posted, which was roughly eleven days ago. Prior to that, the computer I was going to order (I got it through tigerdirect.com) was in stock, available, and was to ship immediately. So I go to work and I log on, and it says that now they ship in 7-21 days. I figure ( Read more... )

your wonderful conversation with Miguel reminded me of one I had not so long ago with a person of.. probably eastern european descent about how my kodak printer dock was not working.. she kept giving me these suggestions and every time they wouldn't work she'd be like hmm.. well okay.. let me check something.. Quite frankly, I think she was winging the whole thing. I did get my printer to work though.. without her help ;)

Okay, how many wrinkly noses is it going to take? How many "eww"s will I need to utter? Ham is gross. I don't like ham. Unless I'm really hard up and it's on a sandwich with a lot of cheese and I can't taste it much. The texture weirds me out, the taste is a little odd and it's just pretty scary in general. Anyway, my family always has it, too.

My favorite is when I get to have the following discussion at work.

Customer: Hey, can you put some fragile stickers on there?
Me: *smirk* Umm, okay. *places one sticker on there, hopefully where the driver doesn't see it*
Customer: No, no, no, it's really delicate, it needs lots of stickers.
Me: Oh. Is it packed properly?
Customer: YES. Now stick a few more of those on there.
Me: Yes. Right. Stickers. *slaps half a dozen on*

Later...

Me: Looook, Mr. Driver, we've got a good one. Be really careful with this one.Driver: *grins and drops package* Oh. Ooops ( ... )

Ham has its time and its place... Like amongst to chicken and swiss cheese.

Sure, it's just that the time and place are never in my tummy.

I will try to buy the album when I get paid on Friday. It's just that Justin has been all on this "We have to pay the bills" shit all the time.

I always knew that about delivery drivers, too. That's why I always pack breakables extra, extra well, put no "fragile" indications on the outside, and just hope it gets there okay. Its always worked so far.

At work, we do the same things with things with boxes labeled glass/fragile, etc. I mean, half of them are already broken, and if they aren't, they've been dropped ten times already, so they're packed well enough, I figure.

Ha. See, I bet your packages would totally pass the shake test and then you wouldn't look across the counter and say "But your drivers aren't going to shake it, right?" to which your friendly shipping person would have to resist the urge to say "No, they're going to cradle it, carefully and lovingly, from here to your destination." and then roll their eyes because you clearly know how to ship things. You should come to where I work and give classes because it doesn't seem like we're getting through to people.

I mean, it's all automated. There's no other way to move hundreds of thousands of packages overnight. Of course it's going to get bumped and jostled and slammed around and never mind what the drivers are doing on purpose.
