Absolutely love this! Robbie and James messing about in boats, being cheered on by Laura, and with bonus Jean :) This is exactly how I would like them to be post-S7.
"We've had a 100% reduction in complaints from the public about police facetiousness." Ha, that line really made me laugh! I loved this, James and Robbie hanging out, Laura and Jean cheering them on and James doing an adorable good deed and hating the attention. Lovely. :-)
Only James, he thinks - only James could be so competitive, and yet so patient as to just sit there while a row of ducks meandered across his path. Yep, only James, that's why we love him.
Happiness across the board, Hathaway, and ducklings - I think I love you.
This was equal parts sweet and very funny. Thank you for writing and sharing!
"Sunshine, light exercise, being out on the water..." "That's probably what they said to galley slaves before pressganging them into service," I was drinking coffee while reading this ... no good idea ;) It still makes me smile rereading and I can hear Lewis voice in my head, so - spot on :)
"I know, but five ducklings! Think of the photo opportunity!" Innocent mourns *snicker*
It's snowing at the moment, but reading your story I felt like summer. I could see or rather feel them racing. I never rowed, but this felt very real to me. Very well written.
P.S. I read this as friendship, and I don't know if you like to see them as Lewis/Hathaway at all, but still "Just remember to breathe and follow my rhythm," got me on a totally other train of thought *ducks*
Thank you so much for the lengthy comment and pointing out the bits you liked! I haven't done anything more than kayaked myself, so I'm glad it felt realistic.
I absolutely adore Lewis/Hathaway and am utterly amused by your interpretation of that line. Also, *ducks*. Tee hee!
