Viewports

I'm preparingg a document and I have several layouts in the file and in one of them I want the fiewport to show the drawing vertically as opposed to all the other ones where it is shown horizontally.  I tried simply rotating the viewport and that didn't work.  How can I achieve this without rotating the drawing in Model space?

I'm using AutoCAD

You have to change the UCS view of the one viewport. The easiest way to do this is in floating model space, with the viewport unlocked, type "UCS" then "Object" and click on an entity that is at the angle you want to turn the viewport. This will change the UCS - you'll see the UCS icon turned.

Then you need to change the plan view to the new UCS. Type "Plan" then "Current" and the whole drawing should change to the angle of the new UCS. Lock the viewport, and you're good to go!

Thanks. That was something I've wanted to do in the past, but I didn't think it was possible.

a whole other option (gotta love that autocad has 10 ways to do anything):

while in the viewport, do "dview" command.
hit enter to select all objects
tw for twist option
type angle to rotate
enter to finish command

Yea, I'd stick with the dView command. That way you won't have to worry about changing UCS's. You also don't need to do any object selecting if you simply plan on rotating the view 90 degrees. The main purpose of selecting objects for the dview command is if you're going to visually rotate the viewport to line up with some geometry in the plan. Otherwise, just hit space or enter when it asks for object selection. I will show a basic house drawing in the place of your drawing during the "twist" operation. Simply enter the degree of twist you want (probably 90 degrees) and go from there. Enjoy!
