I don't know if we are hiring but we are just finishing up our evaluation of the Inventor 11 pro and Revit packeages. It is looking as if we'll be using Inventor for Piping and Revit Structural for our steel and foundations. We do work with Paper mills and chemical plants. What do you think of Inventor? What have you used it for in the past?
I love it. I've only used it in college, but am certified in release 9. One of 3 college students in the world to do so, so I've been told.( There may be more now) I'd like to renew my certification for the most current version but at my current place I don't use it so that's on the back burner. However, I would really like to work at a plce that uses it.
We are just jumping into 3d and BIM. Talking to Autodesk about Inventor 2008, they have done a lot of upgrading even since the release 10. The Inventor division is located Lake Oswego which is in the Portland metro area, so there is plenty of support here for it. More and more firms are moving the way of the 3D model. That might be a good selling point for your work to start looking into it.
It would be I suppose, but I don't see it working all that well for for an environmental engineering firm that designs sewage treatment plants and stormwater management plans amongst other things. I went to college for mechanical drafting and the only jobs I could find are civil and environmental.
