Unable to change layer properties in layer management

This is a new one for me. I have these random layers in my drawings that won't allow me to change their properties in the layer management box. In the layer management box, when I put my cursor over the line type or line weight column of said layers, the little dialog box that comes up flickers. Have you tried purge and audit?
