On the Earth That Was they told the tale
Of the horses of the gods,
And they say they carried heroes,
And they say they beat the odds,
And my friends, I'm here to tell you now
Those tales were always true,
Let me tell the tale of Brian Trin,
And the day those horses flew.
They can draw the lines of battle,
Tell us what we're fighting for,
But I tell you there are heroes on
The both sides of a war,
And it doesn't really matter if
They wore the blue or brown;
What matters is the choice they made
When they saw the chips go down.
And they'll say it never happened,
That those horses never flew,
And they'll say they weren't heroes,
And they'll say it isn't true,
But there's those who still remember,
And there's those who won't forget
That some heroes won't stop flying.
That the Pegasus flies yet.
There were five ships out there in the black;
Their captains wore the blue,
And sweet Rosa held the first one's reins
While her love steered number two,
And when they heard the calls for aid come up
They knew where they had to be,
And they dropped down from that starry sky
To restore Serenity.
But the men who set their orders said
"You leave those folks alone,
For they brought this down upon themselves.
Let their blood lie on the stone.'"
Now Captain Brian Trin said "No;
We're sworn to offer aid,
And you'll never make us monsters and
Our choice is fairly made."
And they'll say it never happened,
That those horses never flew,
And they'll say they weren't heroes,
And they'll say it isn't true,
But there's those who still remember,
And there's those who won't forget
That some heroes won't stop flying.
That the Pegasus flies yet.
And the men who set their orders said
"Turn back or be prepared
To share the death we meant for them,
We swear you won't be spared."
And Rosa said to Brian, "If
You love me, you fly true,"
And they both knew what their choice could mean,
And they chose to carry through,
And when Brian watched his love's ship burn,
He still knew what was right,
And the Browncoats bleeding down below
Saw the Pegasus take flight.
And they'll say it never happened,
That those horses never flew,
And they'll say they weren't heroes,
And they'll say it isn't true,
But there's those who still remember,
And there's those who won't forget
That some heroes won't stop flying.
That the Pegasus flies yet.
Captain Brian Trin's a hero;
Rosa Vasquez flies no more.
The Alliance says the Pegasus
Played no part in the war,
But there's those who owe survival
To those white wings in the black.
You can never slay the Pegasus.
Just believe that they'll be back.
And they'll say it never happened,
That those horses never flew,
And they'll say they weren't heroes,
And they'll say it isn't true,
But there's those who still remember,
And there's those who won't forget
That some heroes won't stop flying.
That the Pegasus flies yet.
There's those who still remember,
But we never will forget.
Rosa Vasquez died a hero.
Captain Brian Trin flies yet.
