Never heard of such a fruit before. Oh, it's a plum.
Nice. You always keep learning something about England :)

Basically a small more or less uncultivated member of the plum "family" Something you will find in rural areas rather than towns/cities.

For some reason, plums in my mother's garden do not bear fruit. So I have to buy them at the store.

This year seems to be not very favourable in terms of fruit, but plums have managed to make it - they are the cheapest friut available in local markets. So I buy them to eat and make a seasonal drink, which is компот :)

My Dad used to use a similar method for plums, pears and I think apple puree. I've tried it myself in 1980's, but I find it is easier simly to stew the fruit and put into plastic boxes for freezing. I know its not the same and there is difference in taste and texture, but all the frozen fruit I prepare are very tasty and welcome during winter/spring.
