This is the worst time of the year for movies. It's sad how much un-original, un-imaginative crap is out now and will be coming out in the next few months. I liked 'Pan's Labyrinth', I think '300' looks awesome, and of course I'll see 'The Number 23' and 'TMNT' because I like Jim Carrey and the ninja turtles, but other than that, there's nothing ( Read more... )

"there's nothing a few people in a tiny ship could possibly do to affect it"

like The Core. or Deep Impact. Those weren't realistic at all. All of these are just fun movies to sit and enjoy. They don't have to be totally accurate, even if it would make them more enjoyable.

I can enjoy unrealistic movies about saving the world from disaster, as long as the task that needs to be done is at least possible and somewhat believable. But I can't enjoy movies where the writers clearly have no scientific knowledge and do no research at all, like The Core or The Day After Tomorrow. At least in movies like Deep Impact and Armageddon they are trying to stop something that could really happen, and stopping it is possible.

keep in mind the plot of the last movie this guy did.

dead people come back to life. kinda. and they eat the living people.

i think its still going to be an awesome movie.

I hated 28 Days Later because they didn't bother to explain anything. Even though the idea of people turning into zombies is dumb, it would have been so much better if they would have just taken two minutes to make up something interesting to explain why it happened. With Sunshine, there's no possible explanation. The whole mission would be an obvious, ineffective, hopeless waste of time.

It was rage infected monkeys.

though I can't remember if they said why the monkeys were being infected like that.

One of my favorite parts in Shaun of the Dead is at the end when he's flipping through the channels and one says "rage infected monkeys" being the cause, and he changes the channel lol. Hilarious wink at 28 Days Later.

I'm more excited about the fact that both Rose Byrne and Cillian Murphy are in it. I LOVE her (see icon for proof) lol ;)
