So is Malwarebytes better then Spybot S&D?

I've been using Avira + Spybot for quite a while now and so far am virus free (My work computer however is a different story - but I don't have permissions to fix it)

yes... yes. Avira is actually one that I give my lowest ratings to :p I would say get AVG or MSSE

I am unfamiliar with MSSE.

AVG is a resource hog.

I liked Avira 'cause it's comprehensive, works well and is fairly lightweight.

Microsoft Security Essentials (www.microsoft.com) Free, low on resource usage, and it is easy to deal with.

I've heard that time and again, and is the only thing that keeps me from getting one to mirror rainbow_ark. I'll never get one unless they clean up their act.

ah yeah unfortunately the virus your likely speaking of is that damned pop-up that has a fake enlarged closebox X. The only way to not get it is to open task manager and close the window which closes the browser at the same time.

Problem is Firefox (and other browsers) want to do the courtesy of reopening every window as using Task Manager to close something is seen by the browser program as an unexpected shutdown.

I accidentally clicked it on the browser restart and then it decided to embed itself in C:/windows/system32. I found the little snot eventually and removed it but not all viruses are so easily removed.

I'm giving MWB a shot here.

Recently, I bought a copy of Kaspersky 2010. I removed it from my system a few days later because it was causing my PC to bluescreen. It seems that unless you install KAV on an absolutely clean system, it will crash you. Duh? I bought the software because I already had a virus! Avoid Kaspersky.. waste o' money!
