Heh. Back when I was a kid Lego didn't really do the little kits, just various sized boxes of bricks and bases. Some friends, however, have recently been trying to get some of their old kits back together from the instruction booklets and their huge mine of bits. They've even completed some. ;)
If I were a braver man I would try to separate them out into a few of the sets I know are in there.... mine are all sorted by color in several plastic drawer sets.
Heh! That's a task and a half, I expect, but at least you'd be starting with slightly limited places to go looking for pieces. Of course there'll always be that one unique piece that's found its way under the rug or into the wrong box...
Oh man, I totally still have that castle! I'd have to separate its pieces from the other random pieces which currently occupy an entire Xerox box at my parents' place. I'll have to snag it the next time I'm out that way. :3
