You and George Bush Sr., lady.

I can't adequately respond to this. It's so deeply irrational that there's really no point in even trying.

Actually, here's a decent, if indirect, response. Not that it matters to Ms. Alice Shannon. It's still P.'s fault that crime is rampant.

We "amoral" atheists.

I wonder if the mormons will get run out, too.

Well, at least they acknowledged both protestants AND catholics as Christians. It's not much, but at least it's a start for these mouth-breathers.

I'm just amazed that this opinion is so strong; and I've seen it before, in chain-letter type emails (I'm not sure if you've seen them, but the one that starts "People have asked where was God when $incident happened... why is it a surprise, when we have thrown God out of our schools", etc) and in the stuff my mother received in the mail. But I suppose it's useful to blame crime and perverse conduct on a generalization, and not on individuals; crime isn't the fault of a person, it's the fault of the media! It's the fault of the left! It's the fault of the atheists! Etc.

It's also ironic that she wanted atheists to "get the hell out", I think.

So freedom of religion is allowed so long as you believe in God? Okay...

The author sounds like one of those types that uses religion as a crutch. If a rape happens then they believe God will not allow a pregnancy to occur, or if a pregnancy does occur then they'll justify their beliefs by saying God must have a greater reason for allowing it to occur.

Actually, I take that back. The author really sounds like one of those people that instead of thinking why an incident occured and how to prevent it from happening again, they will simply seek someone to blame and persecute. "Oh, it's not my fault this happened (even though I could have done something simple to prevent it)! It's the work of those evil people! Blah blah blah!"

BTW, can you actually provide any sort of verification that Bush wants atheists out of the country?

I assume he's making reference to the famous quotation in which the elder Bush alleged that atheists were neither citizens nor patriots ("this is one nation under God"), but a quick google, at least, doesn't allow me to show the veracity of that; it's too clogged up with people quoting it without citation.
