I made a rare trip to the flicks for this one. I haven't read the book in about 12 years, so I enjoyed the film for what it was, really. I didn't like some of the song choices (and that sex scene) but overall I thought it was thoroughly spiffing!

Good stuff, Adam. Dr Manhattan actually shimmers when you scroll down the picture!
I thought some of the elements of Watchmen were really well realised on film, especially Rorshach! Others not so much. Obviously the book will always win out due to it's multi-layered narratives (pirate ship comic, mutated squid ending etc), but still an entertaining film nonetheless.

And a lovely illustration. You are right if there was no book I would probably like this movie. I do like the movie, I just don't love it as much as the book.

I enjoyed it up till the pacing fell apart and the over the top violence inflicted by Nite Owl and Silk Spector. Yeah they're shocked by Rorshach's ways but popping someone's bone out of their arm is all in a day's work for these Not Super Beings. Plus the alternate ending wasn't as big as it should've been. In the book the Squid aftermath went on for pages, the reader soaking up every last deadly detail. With the nuke it wasn't like that, it was just another big ol' boom with little carnage happening.
