I used to read so many christian books like that when I was a kid because I could read anything that said christian without needing permission first so I ended up reading a lot of really dumb adult romantic books when I was too young for them cause I just wanted to read constantly. I don't thrift at all any more. When I want cheap books, I go to the store in the library, which has $1 hardbacks and $.50 paperbacks. Goodwill wants $10 for books around here.
I pretty much lived in my school's library until high school. I wish I had a list of all the books I read then, because I remember liking so many. I try to keep up with a reading journal these days.
