i suddenly feel the need to discuss and express to people something which in most cases would be a taboo subject: prostitution. It's very mention in some sleepy American towns would cause such an uproar of denial and denigration that most seem content to let the subject lie (no pun intended). But in all seriousness, what is the problem with it?

Yeah. Obviously, being a feminist, the discussion about prostitution has come up on my radar multiple times. I'm still not entirely decided about my opinion towards the practice as a whole, but I have strong opinions about particularities. I think women should have the right to control their own bodies, but I also think that the societal context in which women choose to become prostitutes is largely fucked up and mostly not a truly free decision (but one that has been economically forced). Now, I recognise that there really are some prostitutes who have chosen to trade sex for money, and who are not working in personally exploitative conditions
