Help!

I've managed to get the manacles removed and I have earned the right to walk freely around the yard but I am still unable to scale the tall barbed-wire security fence that surrounds the complex without being cut down by the assault rifle wielding guards ( Read more... )

First, I move to California; Second, I call my old friends who used to love me so much, and I ask them if they have any leads; Third, I try not to worry too much :)

Seriously though, if you already HAVE a job, then you don't have to be worried or insecure...because you already HAVE a job. Any other job you are applying for, well, you don't NEED them, you HAVE a job, so they only NEED you. This seriously helps. Even still I still get nervous and jittery while going through the job getting process, but it really does help. Cuts down on say... 65% of job induced nausea, swelling, and nerves :)

Yeah, what saraah said. Also, as far as getting a job that you don't have experience in, find something that is related to something you are interested in. Being interested, or even just saying you are, means a lot to people - also talk about willingness to learn...

I think you should come back to California as well. Well just as long as you don't want to work for the state, there's a bit of trouble down here with state workers. Saraah is right though, if you already have a job it does make the search go a bit easier because the pressure of being unemployed isn't also weighing so heavily on your mind. If you have a variety of experience in other fields you can also go the "fast learner," "adapts quickly" route that's how I've managed to snag so many jobs outside of my experience field. Being able to do a variety of things can come in handy especially at a time like this when everyone is looking for people who are comfortable wearing multiple hats.

While I know there is no way on EARTH I'm going to convince you to come back to Sacramento (where I am now currently once again residing - shocking I know) I do like the come-back-to-california advice. :) There is no slow-cold season here :) On another note, yes, the "i am extremely interested in this and am very willing to learn" is a great line (and you'll probably be happier if you chose a job where it's not just a line but is true). Good to see a post from ya' and good luck with everything :)

As far as getting a job, that's easy: Lie to their faces. Let them be disappointed later. As far as keeping a job I have little advice to offer you other than don't be like me, continue to kiss ass to your superiors in the face of direct disrespect. The answer to a quarter-life crisis, much like a mid-life crisis, is to date an eighteen year-old. It will put the past seven years in sharper focus. Or not. Do what thou wilt, sucka. Why you asking me?

Never mind the eighteen year old. I hadn't read your prior post about sweethearts and the love of your life and all that. Unless she happens to be eighteen. Anyway, congratulations on all that. Message me or something. It's been a long time.
