OMG YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY YOU HAVE MADE ME. I literally wrote this while half asleep, and I was stressing so badly about it. So THANK YOU for giving me some awesome feedback! So glad you loved it! And I just HAD to leave a cliffhanger...hehe.
Seriously sad Lexie does make me sad but I love the way you wrote her reaction. I do think she would feel betrayed because Mark tried to keep this from her. And her thoughts about wanting Mark's first experience loving a baby to be theirs and not Sloan's seems really true to her character too.
(Explanation: I know, I know. I didn't address the blood. In my defence, the spoilers that I saw today threw me with regard to this, because I just couldn't make the two mesh in my head. At the risk of mangling it completely, I decided to leave it for far more able authors than myself to tackle.
(Also, due to work commitments, I really didn't have time to research the medical requirements of writing a section based on that...)
Leaning on the competent people around him like Meredith and Miranda isn't a weakness, it's good sense. Such a dangerous rationalization! Great portrayal of the Chief and his fears and motives. (And I loved the way you worked in the sneak peak about the surgery tapes.)
I adored Meredith in the second scene. "You're badass. I'm badass." I hope they aren't both horribly disappointed.
Awesome writing :)
PS: the icon is probably my second most used after the default Mark one right now. I think it's stoking up my entirely unanticipated (and sort of unwanted) affection for her!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I actually had most of this written when I saw the sneak peaks and went back and rewrote a bit to work in the surgery tapes so I'm glad you noticed! I'm always intrigued by Meredith's relationship with the Chief some I really interested to see how that part of the storyline is going to play out.
I have to admit that I really do like Sloan so far (I blame it on a pre-existing Leven Rambin crush.) and am going to be super sad when/if something bad happens to her.
Oh man, this was great! As CP said, Meredith was great. And you rock forever for incorporating the sneak peeks!
Loved this chunk:
Sometimes it's fun to make Cristina work for it a little bit.
Cristina allows the silence to linger for a moment and then sighs in a loud, dramatic fashion. A smile plays briefly at the corner of Meredith's lips and she says, "Okay, spit it out."

That's all I can even say! Just..you kill me. This was fantastic, Lexie's dread was awesome, and the ending! I regret starting this trend.
I'm psyched for the next part and I think I'm gonna read yours again now, just to live it again :D
