How the hell does one motivate oneself to write while staring at a blank page...I know I have to do this damn thing, but I just don't want to....I know exactly what Im going to be putting in rewriting this first chapter, but I'd rather be banging my head against the brick wall of my bedroom...

Freewriting
Just start writing something (not on LJ!). Write what comes into your head just to get started.

Have you outlined? If not that's a way to start, too.

Writing sucks.

After finding myself in your predicament many a time, I discovered that going ahead and banging your head against the wall several times suddenly makes you feel fortunate to have something else to do and the stuff just pours out all over the page as your brains leak out of your ear.

If like me, you can not afford the loss of much gray matter between your ears.... I highly suggest packing both ears with cotton and reinforcing with a bandaid......Let me know how that works out for you.
