[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]

Name: Godot (real name: Diego Armando. He no longer answers to it.)
Age: 34 (it is very difficult to tell how old he really is, between his hair color and his mostly-hidden face)
Gender: Male
Fandom: Ace Attorney
Timeline: Midway through Trials and Tribulations, post 3-3 but pre 3-5
History: Here. I have a self-written version of it here, too, because I'm a stickler.

Character Personality:

Behind the omnipresent coffee cup and just below the creepy glowing mask is a cryptic smile that rarely falters. Godot revels in his self-made "mysterious" persona and most everything about him, from his age to his real name to the real expression on his face at any given time, is a secret. He is forever cocky and usually smug, coming off as a little too self-assured at best and an arrogant douchebag at worst. He speaks in baffling, occasionally broken metaphors that make little sense to anybody else and often require him to explain them. He also quotes his own personal "rules" that seem bizarrely suited for whatever the given situation and are probably made up off the top of his head.

Eccentricities aside, there's no denying that Godot is a cool customer. He's very charismatic and good with people... when he wants to be. When he doesn't want to be, he comes off as an asshole of the highest caliber, often seen taunting, name-calling, or otherwise trying to get a rise out of people for his own amusement. Beyond everyday chitchat and teasing he's actually quite aloof; he prefers to keep to himself, brushing off any attempts to get to know him better.

If you somehow intrigue him or you manage to get past the cool and unflappable facade, you will see a very different side of Godot. Under the mask, he is a passionate individual with extreme dedication to whatever his personal cause. He's extremely stubborn and refuses to back down from a fight, particularly if you manage to anger him-- he holds grudges like nobody's business, and absolutely nothing will dissuade him until he feels like justice has been done. He cares deeply for the very, very few people who are important to him, and he would do literally anything to protect them, no matter the cost. Those who come to know Godot on more than a casual basis will pick up on the pain in his demeanor, a combination of anger, loneliness and sorrow that he desperately tries to hide.

He may be a teasing jerk, but Godot plays fair and recognizes honor. Even at his most hateful in the courtroom, Godot concedes his arguments once he's been decisively proven wrong, and tends to come around when things are presented rationally and logically to him. He would not send an innocent person to jail to prove a point, and he's not so far gone as to betray his own principles. Despite all the bitterness and cynicism he exudes, he is a good person at heart and dedicated to the virtue of justice. He just doesn't believe it anymore, and knows no other effective way to cope with his pain than to hide behind his cool, invincible alter-ego.

Of course, it must be mentioned that Godot loves coffee. Loves it. Even italicized, this is the understatement of the millennium. To say that Godot "loves" coffee is like saying that China is "crowded" or that the universe is "big." He has a countless number of his own personal blends and drinks more coffee in a day than most people drink in a week, apparently with no ill effects.

Character Abilities: As an attorney who's worked on both sides of a courtroom, Godot is highly intelligent and skilled at putting together conclusions from seemingly haphazard evidence, and many of his strategies have been passed down to several generations of legal proteges-- it is his philosophies that inspired Mia Fey, and in turn Phoenix Wright-- which is really just delicious irony, isn't it? Articulate and charismatic, Godot is a lover of language and certainly has a way with words. He's a big fan of proverbs and aphorisms and often speaks in poetic metaphors, though these are of varying levels of coherence depending on whether or not you are quite as obsessed with coffee as he is. He can also speak fluent Spanish should the need arise.

It's safe to say that this man can make the best damn cup of coffee you've ever tasted in your life. Godot knows how to analyze blends of coffee by smell and taste. He's good enough to tell literally any blend apart from another and identify any other flavors in the coffee, such as milk, sugar or creamer. This ability is honed from his decades of experience in roasting and brewing his own personal coffee blends. He also has an uncanny ability to never be without a hot cup of his favorite beverage, whether it be in the middle of a courtroom or on the side of a desolate mountain. The mechanics behind this are never explained, though it can be assumed he makes use of a large collection of thermoses and portable percolators. His caffeine tolerance is absolutely inhuman and should never be attempted by anyone, for their own safety.

Also basically useless but demonstrated in canon is a bizarre talent for mimicking other people. He hammers out dead-on impersonations of several witnesses in the courtroom, right down to their profile picture and character theme songs, which Phoenix called both "the best and worst" impressions he'd ever seen.

Character Weaknesses: Personality-wise, Godot is extremely stubborn and bullheaded. He holds grudges against any person he perceives to have wronged him, no matter how irrational on his part, and he has a lot of trouble letting things go. He believes so powerfully in justice that he wants to find a cause and blame for everything-- even if it's something that nobody has control over. He has a hero complex and loves to be the one to save the day-- occasionally, this runs unhealthily away from him, as he will usually find a way to blame himself for anything that goes wrong. He deals with this frustration by taking it out on his current grudge, usually poor Phoenix Wright, and as such has developed the reputation of being a huge bully, not exactly undeserved. This, along with his smug attitude and sarcastic, cynical sense of humor make him come off as a tremendous jerk in the eyes of others.

Physically, in the aftermath of his poisoning and subsequent comatose, Godot is a wreck. He's blind, his organs and muscles are all weakened to some degree, and his nervous system has been damaged just a bit shy of the point where he'd have stayed a vegetable. He has very low endurance, being tired easily by highly physical tasks and susceptible to extreme temperatures and other external factors. He is vulnerable to fatigue, chronic pain and occasional seizures. His visor circumvents his blindness to some degree, though it cannot process colors very well, making him practically colorblind-- particularly to red. Godot is also dependent on a variety of medications and frequent doctor's visits to keep his body in good working order, but there is no medicine capable of fixing everything that's wrong with him.

His body was not the only thing damaged in the poisoning. As anyone who breaks through his cryptic facade will be able to tell, Godot is a desperately lonely man, still deep in mourning. Depending on the day and his state of mind, Godot ranges from simply melancholy to borderline emotionally unstable. His failing body and the trauma of what's happened to him weigh heavily on him, a mixture of anger and sorrow that he has never been able to healthily cope with. His alter ego and his revenge fantasy are products of his instability, and by bottling everything up inside, he has only gotten worse. Suffice to say, Godot is in desperate need of a way to cope with his pain, including but not limited to counseling and a few dozen hugs.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

Abilities: As all of Godot's abilities are natural and non-supernatural in... nature, he will keep all of them. Well, except for the profile picture/theme music thing, obviously. We can assume he's just very good at mimicking voices.

Weaknesses: As per the guidelines, Godot's health problems will be mitigated at least somewhat on his arrival in Death City. Though his condition will not be healed, it will be prevented from getting any worse-- his dependence on medication will be removed, he will no longer have seizures and he'll be able to have a nominally more normal physical existence, though he's still much weaker than a normal man of his age and size.

He will not lose his blindness, as his visor works around it anyway.

[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Weapon: Godot, both now and before he picked up the name, has always been a champion of justice. He prides himself on protecting those who need protecting, the weak, the innocent and the defenseless. One of the biggest slams against his self-worth was the weakening of his body and what he perceived as losing his ability to uphold justice in the courtroom-- spurring him to go on a crazy vigilante version of a vengeance quest... or as best as you can get in a game about lawyers, anyway.

Becoming a weapon will grant Godot the ability to fight again, this time in a much more literal sense, in the defense of those who cannot defend themselves. It also represents his willingness to do whatever it takes to protect those important to him, something that he may not even know about himself at this point (FORESHADOWING!)

What is your character's Weapon form?: Godot's weapon form is that of an espada ropera sword with an elaborate basket handle (such as this one). It's a sword that was mainly carried by civilians in need of a good weapon for defense-- not unlike the civilians that Godot represented once upon a time when he was a defense attorney. It requires finesse to use, as it is a stabbing/thrusting weapon suited for duels, appropriate to the articulate and precise nature of Godot's career spent battling in courtrooms. It is also Hispanic in origin. See what I did there.

Godot's ropera features a basket handle with a definitive "steam" motif-- the coils are very thin and wispy, though extremely strong, and seem to change to fit the hand of whatever meister wields him. They all stem from a small, round carving that circles the blade that some people might possibly interpret to be a coffee cup, though the jury is still out on that one. The hilt is wrapped with white leather, and at the end of the hilt is set a clear, bright teal-colored jewel. When Godot strongly resonates with a meister, or if using one of his more powerful attacks, the jewel turns red instead.

Godot's weapon abilities center around defensive powers, relying on the meister's skill at attack for most offensive actions. Abilities are as follows, because I love silly attack names:

1. Black Magic: (Any resonance) Resonating at all between weapon and meister will grant the meister an increase in endurance and energy, as though they'd drank a cup of excellent coffee. (What else?)

2. Bold Defense: (Mild resonance) When activated, the blade becomes more defensive and capable of absorbing damage from the meister. Attacks guarded by the handle do a quarter of the damage, and attacks that hit the blade do half damage. If the attack is not guarded by the blade, it will do normal damage. This ability will need to be used sparingly, as it greatly weakens Godot. Overuse will cause weakness, pain, headaches and other symptoms in him after the fact, and could potentially seriously injure him if the meister is not careful.

3. Blend #108: (Moderate resonance) The blade becomes capable of inflicting poison damage, including burning pain and gradual weakening. This can be used up to three times in one battle, and it can only take effect once, ie: the opponent cannot be doubly or triply poisoned.

4. Bitter Contradiction: (Perfect resonance) Similar to #2, except the damage of every guarded attack is reflected back on the opponent with equal power, completely protecting the meister. This will take effect for 30 seconds, and it can be used once per battle. If the meister doesn't guard an attack with the blade, it will do normal damage.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: Cryptic, passionate, poetic, just, confident, lonely

Soul Appearance: Surprisingly, with regards to his teal/white color motif, Godot's soul is very clearly red. It's a brightly glowing little wispy shape with jagged flames that look something like Godot's haircut. The soul also has what appears to be a teeny weeny visor just like its owner's covering where its "eyes" would be. Awww.

Art forthcoming.
