KARA 'STARBUCK' THRACE (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA)

Continuing from my last '100 Things' entry, one of my favourite characters from Battlestar Galactica was Kara Thrace. There was an uproar initially about her character because she was re-imagined as a woman in the new series but I thought the move was fantastic as Kara was a compelling character. She played with the boys but did not take any crap from them. She drank heavily and smoked cigars. She was good at her job. She was tough, bad-ass and immensely complicated. Her personal life was in shambles and her romantic relationships were fraught with issues (though her friendships for the most part have remained solid throughout), all of which reveals a doubtful and insecure person underneath all of the toughness. She's a deeply flawed person who has her own share of mistakes (not to mention her share of weird, messed-up situations--the start of series 3 with the Cylon occupation, for example) which is interesting to watch on-screen alongside her tough I'm-pwning-everyone attitude. Katee Sackhoff did an amazing job portraying this character, both the physicality of the role and the more emotional, dramatic aspect of Starbuck.

There's nothing else I can add really, her awesomeness just says it all.
