I love Discworld! I've been into it for about sixteen years now, ever since I got the first book for my eleventh birthday. I agree that the Wizards are the most hilarious characters. Have you read The Last Continent? I have to confess I don't actually like Rincewind much but the wizards are at their funniest in that book. When I first started reading, Death was my favourite too. The Watch was the last arc I got around to reading but they ended up being my absolutely favourite; I have such a crush on Sam Vimes!
That's cool! =) I haven't read gotten around to the early books just yet but that's interesting to know about the Wizards in that novel, will definitely bump it up my list! Ahh, the Watch, looking forward to reading more books featuring them, Guards! Guards! was quite hilarious xD
The Guards books are my favorite, so I hope you enjoy them! I'm actually not as big a fan of the Death novels, but Thief of Time is probably my favorite of them (though I did like Hogfather a lot, too.)
I saw the Hogfather movie (or maybe just the first half of it? I forget) and thought it was pretty charming. Not as great as the book, but I liked the way Susan was done, and Nobby, and Teatime was nicely creepy.
Let's not forget that there's quite a lot of political satire in the Discworld books, so they've got that added element of awesome. Also, Unseen Academicals made it to my very short list of things that actually made me temporarily like football :D
Definitely! I finished reading Guards! Guards! last week and I loooooove the bits about the different types of government and ruling and stuff.
Out of curiosity what other things made it to that list? ;) Unseen Academicals was a riot. Wizards trying to play a version of their football = must be read for me xP
Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby. And Dara O Briain used to write a football column for The Guardian which I read pretty religiously because Dara O Briain in awesome :D
