INCEPTION (2010)

This was certainly one of the the most talked-about movies of 2010 but it took me until after I returned from my exchange to check it out for myself (my review of the movie can be found
over here). And I can see why everyone was raving about this movie.
Hands down it's one of my favourite, original science fiction movies that I've seen in recent years. The concept was intriguing--the idea of going into someone's dreams and planting a suggestion--and the cinematography and special effects certainly backed it up. The balance between the technical aspects of carrying out an inception with the emotional core of the story--namely Cobb's backstory and the implications it reveals about this technology--were also thought-provoking. The movie also boasts quite a stellar cast of actors and their chemistry was fantastic, I enjoyed watching all of the interactions (though my personal favourite is probably between Eames and Arthur). Oh, and Hans Zimmer did a wonderful job (as always) with the score which just added to the spectacle and the intrigue.
So yeah, this movie made it on my list for all of the reasons I've listed above. It does sort of linger in your mind after the movie is done but yeah, it's a wonderfully-conceived and produced film. And now I feel like re-watching it xP
