I also started watching B5 from halfway through season 2 ("And Now for a Word" was my first ep, which was actually a pretty good intro).
The opening credits give me the shivers every time. Especially "The Babylon project was our last, best hope for peace. It failed. But in the year of the Shadow War, it became something greater -- our last, best hope for victory." (Haven't gotten to s3 in my rewatch yet, which means I haven't seen that promo in 15+ years, and I still remember it verbatim :D)
The humour is definitely a huge part of why I love the show, and also what appeals about it to my kids, now that I'm watching with them. That's why Garibaldi and Londo and Ivanova are their favorites :)
Loved reading your post, and looking forward to more about B5!
Nice! I believe my first episode was "Hunter, Prey" so yeah, not far from where you started =D
I think out of all of the five intros, my favourite intro monologue was s3, it was very dramatic and memorable =D I love that they chose Ivanova as the voice for that intro too =D
That's awesome that your kids are watching this show, it's such a gem to share. Hmm, perhaps I can get my mum to watch it with me one of these days (she knew of the show at the time too but she pretty much stuck to Star Trek).
