AERYN SUN (FARSCAPE)

Despite having not watched the entire series of Farscape, Aeryn Sun (played by Claudia Black) did come to mind when I was putting together my female sci-fi/fantasy characters because let's face it, she's a badass. Like, she is up there in the list of badass women on television. Her character is pretty much hardened by her lack of relationships due ot her upbringing as a Peacekeeper; again, I haven't watched the whole series straight so I'm not familiar with her entire background, but her upbringing did mould the way she views things. It also gave her quite a dry sense of humour, I think, judging by some of her comebacks and the things that make her feel better per se (see the YouTube compilation below).

But what's also wonderful about this character is how she changes over the course of the television show. Through her interaction, friendships and relationships with the other stragglers on board Moya, she grows as a character and breaks free from some of the hardness that defined her life before her time on Moya (from what I've seen of course). It's quite interesting where she ends up at the end of the series, fairly safe with friends she cares about, a man she loves and a family.

And to sum things up, here's a video I found on YouTube with some of her best moments:
