During the summer solstice, the Germanic (and Celtic) peoples would celebrate their goddess of fertility, Eostre. Though the stories varies, one version tells that the phoenix goddess was saving someone's life and in the process was killed to be instantly reincarnated into a rabbit, but because her heart was still that of a phoenix she laid eggs
