I find this argument flawed. Merely benefiting from Socialist institutions does not make one a Socialist.

True.

However, we live in a society in which taxes are levied in order to pay for said institutions.

It is the combination of being a citizen, and therefore being on the hook for taxes, and reaping the benefits of those taxes through public institutions that actually binds a person into socialism.

If you honestly don't want to be a socialist, stop paying taxes and stop using the things that taxes pay for.
