If you have ever tried to find a female Shakespeare monologue, you know it is a pain in the ass. Monologues are hard to find period because you have to love them and they have to suit you (I often find myself loving ones that would be horrible for me), but with Shakespeare monologues, the women say so little that finding one is a daunting task ( Read more... )

I once decided to string together all kinds of various things that Lady Macbeth said and made it into a monologue. It worked relatively well. And Lady Macbeth kicks ass.

I do love me some Lady Mac. Also, Roselin, Kate, and Beatrice. I'm actually about to start a project looking at Shakespeare's really free women who all end up getting married and whether their marriages would look different than the typical marriages of the time. It should be an adventure!
