I'm agreed with you on all points. It was fun to see the new releases and such but nothing blew me away or induces to buy anything. But then again, that's not necessarily a bad thing since I won't be spending money. :P
Woosoo is actually the only MNF I've seen in person. She's pretty but not really for me. Soo is actually my favorite, but Shushu and Miyu...well, they're all nice. :D
I have nothing against Woosoo, but I'm confused as to why they chose him for the new fullset. I would think they would make a lot more money releasing fullsets of more popular dolls like Shushu, Miyu or Shiwoo.
I'll admit that it's nice to not have another doll to add to my wishlist this time around. I'm still swooning over older molds.
At least FL is releasing new MNF stuff, I'd say that counts for something since they haven't released new MNF stuff for a LONG time. Baby steps, baby steps....
I like Leah quite a bit, but I agree, she looks like the more serious version of Ante. But they know what will sell, so that's what they go with, I guess. When it comes down to it, doll companies are out to make money, so why not run with what's popular?
I totally agree with you about the photos--I can haz contrast, plz? The pictures aren't good enough for me to really judge how they look.
As the mommy of a Kuroo, though, I'm going to have to disagree with you about Icis. Yes, the line of the mouth is approximately the same pout, but the shape of the lips is completely different. Kuroo's lips are pressed together, and Icis's are more pursed. And the eyes are completely different--Icis' are wider set and open, unlike Kuroos. To me, Icis more closely resembles PKF Bonnie than any Lati. But then again, it's all a matter of opinion, I guess.
Yes, it's good to see some MNF love when there hasn't been any attention to them since Karsh and Eliya were released. I know the LTF and PKF have exploded in popularity since their release, but some of us still love their older lines too. Although, it feels weird to call MNF and Puki "older" lines, with Fairyland being a relatively new company.
I'll admit that I haven't studied Kuroo a lot, but it's still the same concept as Ruby vs. Belle. They're not similar enough to cry ripoff, but there is an aesthetic resemblance and they're likely meant to appeal to the same audience. It's like Fairyland looked at those dolls, tried to pinpoint what Lati was doing that they were not, and told the artists to put a Fairyland spin on it. Every company does it- how many hooved/horned dolls have there been since Sard was released? So I'm not necessarily criticizing the practice in general, just that I'd have liked to see something new.
I think Fairyland being a new company is why they're releasing dolls so "unevenly"--focusing on new lines and practically ignoring others. I think once each line gets established with a good range of choices (10-12, like the MNF line has), we'll start to see more of a balance in what they release

Looking at it, I think it's a matter of how much they manage to "wow" me with the new product. When PKF first came out, I didn't care that Fairyland was making a size to compete with Lati Yellow, because they were so cute! The originals, especially Bonnie and Zoe, are still my favorite. I doubt that I would have any complaints about Ruby or Icis reminding me of Lati molds if only they had won me over a little more. Given a choice I would take Belle and/or Kuroo, so it's only natural to pick apart any doll that doesn't quite measure up. I do love it that companies like Lati and Soom are setting trends and spreading them. The more the merrier!
I absolutely adore the SD Delf Woosoo, so I've got a soft spot in my heart for the MiniFee, however, I still doubt I'd ever own him.
I am, once again, disappointed by the Fairyland releases. I want a pukifee so bad, just I don't actually like any of the molds they've released yet. So I guess... I'll just keep waiting. Sigh.
I can't say I'm a huge fan of the SD version, but I try not to look too long at any SD if I can help it. The MNF certainly isn't my favorite but I've got nothing against him... I just wonder what the motive behind the new fullset is.
i was really disappointed by the fact that they did a woosoo fullset :/ blehhhhhhh... woosoo is one of my least favorite mnfs >.leah does remind me a lot of ante. i was comparing the winking face to it, and leah's cheeks are not so puffed out, and the eyeshape is different (leah also has more of an eyelid) and the lips. i decided to get a leah instead of ante because in comparison the winking ante looks like a bratty face, puffing out its cheeks and pouting lol :D but yeah, ante is their best-selling ltf i think so i'm not surprised they're trying to create something with the same feel to it (or maybe it was sculpted with ante and they're just now finally releasing it?) but that isn't to say i wouldn't like to see some more creativity out of them too
( ... )
I'm okay with Woosoo, but just okay. There are a dozen other MNF fullsets I'd rather have seen.
I wondered if you would want a Leah, since she's kind of more serious looking. She has Brodwyn feel about her. Really Leah is what I'd have liked to see in Elf Ante, instead of an identical Ante face. I like my elf dollies to have a mature expression.
PKF Cupid might grow on me. It took a while for me to like the Puki version, too. But I can definitely say that the Fairyland pictures suck. There is no way they do that poor doll any justice.
In any story, especially one where two characters were once homeless orphans themselves, there is an opportunity to take in a wandering kid. :D
elf ante was pretty disappointing once i got to looking at her :/ her face is longer and not as cute as normal ante >.< but leah is pretty cute. as much as i love ante, there are just way too many of them :/
the only thing that bothers me about cupid is that the eyes aren't smiling as much as the mouth is (as opposed to sugar with her eyes closing a bit with her smile). their pictures really aren't very good at all >.< so frustrating. you'd think they would learn by now o_o their pics used to not be so bad.
Longer, huh? I hadn't studied it that much, for me Elf Ante was a pretty well dismissed mold. Ante is cute but I have no use for her with elf ears. If they make an Elf Leah, I will be tempted.
I think the Puki Cupid has enough of a smile in the eyes, but I 100% agree on that point with the PKF version. Puki Cupid reminds me of a little boy I know, lol. He manages to have an adorable smile with a mischievous look in his eyes. As for the pictures, I think they're trying to get too stylized now. They're all cluttered and edited.
