Definitely get a different doctor is you aren't being satisfied. In my experience the diagnosis of colic is usually used as an excuse not to look into it further and lazy doctors don't need to be tolerated. Babies shouldn't have to suffer. :(
There is a pediatrician that's actually closer to home that we'll probably be trying. She was the one to examine Mikayla in the hospital, oddly enough, and I liked her then. Our current pediatrician is a very nice man and at first I liked his bedside manner, but now I feel like he's not listening to me and no amount of kind talk is going to make that okay.
I definitely think it's second-opinion time. Is there another doctor in the practice you could see? It'd save you a hell of a lot of trouble (wouldn't have to transfer records and all that jazz), and you would not believe how different two doctors in the same practice can be. Worth looking into. Another suggestion is to try and find a nurse practitioner. In my experience, they have GREAT beside manner, and they're a lot more receptive to your concerns. I see an NP for my allergy shots and another one at the OBG/YN office I go to. Both are excellent, and I MUCH prefer them to doctors.
There is another doctor in the practice, but I can't say I like him very much and he's very, very busy, which is part of the problem with our current doctor. I'm also hoping that I'll be able to communicate better with a female doctor. I do like NPs, I used to see one at my old OB/GYN's office and she was amazing. However, I don't believe there are any pediatric NPs in the area.
Ah. Sad! Well, I hope people are able to give you some good recommendations, and I'm sure you should have no trouble finding a female pediatrician, at the very least.
