Sherlock Recs
Well, howdy! It's been a while! This isn't all the backlogged recs and reading I have accumulated in my link repository by a long shot, and there's some newer stuff mixed in with this batch as well as older stuff. I'll probably not be doing these rec posts on a weekly schedule anymore, just posting one whenever I have a batch coded.

Summary: Sherlock teaches preschool.

Prompt: John and Sherlock and their lazy, dysfunctional Sunday mornings in bed. In which Sherlock has difficulty sleeping and John makes lots of toast. Shameless (surprisingly non-slashy) fluff.
(Gen bed-sharing, with toast. Great dozy warm sleep-in morning fic.)
Commotion in the Classroom by yourebrilliant
Summary: John and Sherlock meet for the first time.
(Kid!AU - Everyone's a school kid and people have best friends and it's so damn cuuuuute!)
Not Dying Today by morganstuart
Summary: The first (and only) time John saw Sherlock and Anderson work well as a team without complaint, they were performing CPR on Lestrade.
(BAMF teamwork, with CPR and whumpage. WOOT! \o/)

Warning: Depictions of Psychiatric hospitals and references to self-injury.
(AU - This is one of those stories wher you look at the summary and think it'll be solid crack, and then it's not and it blows your mind how you could have thought it might be otherwise.)

Summary: NHL!AU. Sherlock Holmes is an eccentric goaltender who keeps getting traded due to attitude problems. John Watson is a perennial minor leaguer getting what could be his last shot at the NHL.
(AU - Holy crap I don't even know. SHERLOCK/SUPERNATURAL/DEXTER HOCKEY AU, and it's seriously awesome. O.o)
Meatball Surgery by bungakertas
Summary: Moriarty sends Sherlock and John advanced warning of a bomb he's going to set off, and a chance to stop it. That is, if John can successfully perform surgery on Lestrade in order to remove the device needed to disarm the bomb. Without anesthetic.
Warnings: graphic violence, medical torture
(Surgery. With bombs. And everybody trying to out-tough-guy each other and succeeding.)
Forgotten But Not Gone by stickstockstone
Prompt: Sherlock's in a home, John is his caregiver who writes fictional stories where they have adventures together.
(AU - Heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. May make you cry.)
The Shawl of Sherlock Holmes by luchia13
Summary: John's a Weaver, capable of channeling the abstract into fabric. After meeting Sherlock, his abilities are put to the test more than ever.
(AU - Interesting AU concept well-executed and in character.)

If you have ever lost someone to a progressive illness or suicide, this fic may harm you, so tread carefully.)

Summary: "You're an Immortal," says Sherlock. "So am I."
WARNING for character death, I suppose, but it doesn't really take.
(Slash, NC17 - Sherlock/John, kissing, depictions of sexual activity. After the previous one, I think one where Sherlock is immortal is needed. Those who know ACD Canon may experience mad cackling at one point in particular.)

Summary: John is devastated after his long-term girlfriend leaves him. Sherlock helps him through it.

In The Land Of The Blind by entangled_now
Warnings: The Apocalypse, possibly disturbing themes
Summary: Sherlock's been acting strangely for days. There's a claustrophobic silence to the flat, experiments tossed aside or abandoned, cases ignored. It's almost as if nothing matters any more. John's determined to know why.
(Slash, R - John/Sherlock, first-times, kissing, depictions of sexual activity. I am physically incapable of not reccing this, not because it's entangled_now which is reason enough for a rec, but it's full of quantum physics and apocalypse planning and things I can't say because, dude, spoilers, but it is so far up my alley that it's hugging the dumpsters at the deep end. Which is a good thing, just to clarify. Plus there is nifty art.)
