Okay, this has nothing to do with anything... I had a dream last night, not involving Supernatural or anything else (except at the very end), but it's so frigging cracky I have to share it.
I dreamt a chemistry soap opera. Sort of.
It was really abstract, because even in the dream I was sort of aware these are just chemicals and they don't have emotional attachments or personalities. But they did.
Hydrogen (a charming friendly nerd) had this thing going on with Oxygen (sweet, earthy and shy) They had a really hot reaction and bonded to make Water. They were a happy couple and had a stable relationship.
Then along comes Sodium (torrid and edgy with no morals) Immediately sparks started flying and there was a huge fight between Hydrogen and Sodium for Oxygen's affections. Oxygen is swept away by Sodium, and Hydrogen is kicked out all alone.
But a part of Hydrogen stays with Oxygen, and they both keep remembering their pairing as Water. Oxygen remembers Hydrogen with growing regret that it allowed Sodium to take it away into this caustic Sodium Hydroxide relationship and yearns for the stability of the Water relationship again, while Hydrogen feels like its lost half its soul when Oxygen left, and gets all mopey, tragic and emo.
Chlorine (kind of a chatty, sympathetic, dreamer) starts hanging around with Hydrogen then and trying to cheer it up. They became best friends, with a snarky, witty, and sarcastic relationship, as Hydrochloric Acid.
Chlorine could see that Hydrogen was still really depressed by its break up with Oxygen, and also knew Oxygen wasn't at all happy with Sodium. Chlorine was also furious at Sodium for its action in breaking up Hydrogen and Oxygen's stable relationship with this affair because it knew Sodium never really cared for Oxygen, Sodium had just broken up the relationship because it could. Chlorine knew that Sodium was going to abandon Oxygen, because their relationship as Sodium Hydroxide was based on a lie.
So, Chlorine engineered a chance meeting between Sodium Hydroxide and Hydrochloric Acid, so it could tell Sodium exactly what it thought about Sodium's actions. Chlorine called Sodium on its heartbreaker ways, and there was a huge heated fight. Hydrogen was very sweetly reunited with Oxygen to form Water again, Chlorine and Sodium wound up hooking up as Sodium Chloride in a kind of passionate evil-fighting superhero duo, and somehow this all explained why salt keeps evil things at bay on Supernatural.
And then I woke up, facepalmed and went, "SERIOUSLY???" I haven't even taken Chemistry classes since 1989. o.O
So, uh... I subconciously ship Hydrogen/Oxygen, I guess? And think Sodium and Chlorine would be hot together? Or I drank way too much water last night and need to cut down on the salt. :-P
(Also, I occasionally dream in horrible, horrible puns, because Sodium Hydroxide is also known as caustic soda, or lye. :-P)
