Ceps and Chantrelle were the shrooms. Ceps are a large shroom white flesh and a brown cap. Chantrelle are a yellow shroom.

Is it common? Yip? There is a tree there in Oceanside since I was a kit that looks very much like Chanterelle. Curiouser and curiouser. Yip!

Relatively common, but I would very much caution you. False Chantrelle looks very similiar and it fairly toxic.

Shrooming can go on into Oct - depends on the frost.
Jam making is usually sept but also normally later than this.

Southern California is a desert, and the only abundant local plant is cactus. Yip. It's core is slightly slimy like a slug or Mandarin ginger beef. Yip.
