Happy Easter!

Apr 21, 2014 11:12

Hope everyone is enjoying the nice long Easter break? I seem to have been rather busy with family for a couple of weeks, culminating in grandkids staying this week. Lovely, but not a lot of time for keeping up with LJ. My reading habit has suffered too. Never mind, normal activities will be resumed today and hopefully I can catch up a bit with ( Read more... )

I watched Primeval with the vague intention of getting into the fic- never did, but I still enjoyed the series! Liked the Desecration of Smaug too, as my Tolkien scholar friend insists on calling it. Tolkien's a great writer in so many ways but he does sometimes fail to carry through on the dramatic- he takes the dwarves all the way to the Lonely Mountain and then has none of them ever meet the dragon!

I too watched the series originally but never got into the fic. *Never* really imagined I would end up doing so.

Love your friend's title for the film. *g* Yes, bizarre... I can't help but feel the changes are for the better.

I've been hooked on Shetland too. Mr Henshall has something, for sure;)

Good series, thrilled to hear it's coming back for a third run. I think he's improving as he ages... like a lot of men.

A lot was added but, Tauriel aside, most of the added material was either inevitable (Legolas, since he ought to be there) or necessary (the fleshing out of Bard, for example), or clever (Azog, but I'm not sticking my neck out on the why of it since so many people got their knickers knotted about him in the first film). Looking forward to #3.

I had no problem with the added stuff at all and just thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Also looking forward to #3.

Beautiful picture there. Happy belated Easter!

Hee, Primeval fic? There's a lot of it about - even I have perpetrated a bit. I must admit, I have developed a decided fondness for the ones with the roll-call of original characters - and for the university AU!

I took the pic of that old tree at Killerton... a NT property near Exeter. Love old trees.

I think I shall have to drag you away on the 6th. and pick your brains a bit on the Primeval fic you've read. So far, my favourite has been a Susan Cooper style story called Winterlight by reggietate. *Gorgeous* Shout if you fancy reading it and I'll send the link. I have also adored a new Shetland fic but if you haven't seen the series you probably won't want to read that. *g*

I prefer the original characters too. University AU? Where do I find that? And is what you've written on the net?

Mine is a bit of a cheat: I have crossed it with Pros older lads! It's on LJ, here, or on AO3, here.

The university AU is a joint effort between Luka and someone else, and I shall find the links by the 6th - if you find me this Winterlight. (God, these Primeval writers are prolific, aren't they?)

Feeling faintly guilty about not having watched Shetland. I need to investigate ways of acquiring it.

Brilliant, thanks for the link to yours. Had a busy weekend so plan to relax this week with some good reading... your story included and there's a second instalment of the Shetland fic to read. Wooohooo!

Oooh, is it one of lukadreaming's efforts with someone else? How intriguing. I'll email you the links to the Winterlight fics.

The Shetland dvds are just out. At around £10 I didn't think they were a bad price. I have a birthday coming up next week and have dropped some broad hints to 'im indoors as to what he can get me. *G*
